Sports board to begin work on Pony League ball field

A unanimous vote of the Franklin County Sports Complex Board at their Monday night meeting gave the go ahead for the first phase of construction on a playing field for older youth teams at the complex site.

The estimated cost of this part of the work is $20,000. “Our current fields do not accommodate required distances for play in the Pony League age group [13-14],” noted Steve Slaton, board president. These are sometime called “O Zone” by Dixie Baseball.
