1994 State Champion Lady Tigers to be honored March 21

The 1994 State Champion Mount Vernon Lady Tiger Softball Team will be honored during a ceremony on Friday, March 21. The ceremony will be prior to the current Lady Tigers’ game against Rivercrest at the high school softball field at 6 p.m. See the March 13 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald for more information.

All-District selections for 24A announced

All-District selections for District 24A, Division II were announced last week. Braden Ivy, a junior from Saltillo, was named Co-Newcomer of the Year, and Erin Zeringue, a senior from Sulphur Bluff, was named Co-Defensive Player of the Year. Tiger teams compete at Prairiland track meet

The Mount Vernon Tiger varsity track team finished in fourth place out of seven teams at the Prairiland meet on Thursday, February 27. Mount Vernon junior varsity ladies beats DeKalb

The Mount Vernon Lady Tiger junior varsity softball team beat DeKalb 13-1 on Tuesday, February 25. Kara Hollingsworth pitched two innings. She faced eight batters with no hits, two strike outs, and one run.

Rose, Rios double up for second place win

The girls doubles team of Taylor Rose and Jordan Rios claimed a second place victory in the Liberty Eylau Invitational Tennis Tournament last week.
