Emotions ran high in the Mount Vernon versus Queen City football game on Friday, October 18. Both teams knew that the winner would be one step closer to securing a playoff berth. The Mount Vernon Tigers came out on top with the final score 21 - 20.
The Tigers went into the game handicapped, with their starting quarterback suspended for the game and their backup quarterback having transferred to another school district. “It was not pretty, but district wins are hard to come by,” Head Coach Mike Alexander said. “I was pleased with how the offensive line stepped up for the additional running plays.” For more information, see the October 24 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.
